Whether you are fully aware of your FAMILY IDENTITY, which was created while you were growing up – your family identity existed. Take a moment and reflect back to your growing up years – How would you describe your family identity? ____________________________________________________________________________

Whether you are fully aware of presently creating your FAMILY IDENTITY – a family identity does exist. Take a moment and reflect on how you would describe your current family identity.

_____________________________________________________________________________

If, you were to choose what your FAMILY IDENTITY currently is…How would you describe it?

Example:

  • Our family identity is one of serving others within the context of non-profits.
  • Our family identity is one of hard work and supporting the work that we do.
  • Our family identity is one of going places and having new experiences.
  • Our family identity is one of sports activities.

There is no right or wrong within a FAMILY IDENTITY

when we are doing our best to love, care for,

and be supportive of one another.

Within our family, HOSPITALITY has been a key component of our FAMILY IDENTITY. It is a common theme for our home to be open for family gatherings and just open (literally, there are times our doors have been unlocked for anyone to come in). We enjoy time together, celebrating life and love with one another and we ALL love a great meal. It helps that we have amazing cooks in our family, too!

It is a part of our family DNA to be a safe place for people. We’ve had a number of people live with us, while they searched for and discerned their next steps in life and work. We have provided caregiving in our home for my mom and experienced her moving on from this world. Many of our most joy filled and happy family experiences are due to our open mind and our open door. And, there have been growth opportunity experiences that have challenged us, as well. All of our HOSPITALITY encounters have all helped us to grow within our greater IDENTITY purpose.

At Family Strong Blueprint, we encourage you to think about your FAMILY IDENTITY this month. You may want to ask your family members, “What they think your FAMILY IDENTITY is?” As a family, the bonds you build will last a lifetime and beyond when you are intentional to live your FAMILY IDENTITY PURPOSE. We know this to be true, as my husband’s parents and my parents had the gift of hospitality, too. We continue to keep the FAMILY IDENTITY going…
